Activities and displays included mosaics, sculptures, loom weaving, music performances and digital collages.? Sweety Jain, MD, from the health network?s department of family medicine, organized the event as part of the health network?s Medical Home Project. Dr. Jain said by demonstrating their creative abilities, the featured artists?whose disabilities included cerebral palsy, spina bifida, autism, multiple sclerosis and depression?broadened the audience?s awareness of people with disabilities.? The Medical Home Project attempts to offer care that is comprehensive, coordinated, compassionate, accessible, culturally competent and patient-centered. It aims to improve the health care of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through advocacy, education and collaboration with community advocacy groups. The event was made possible by funding from the Inglis Foundation.
